Mainz lies on the Rhein River, and is the sister city of Wiesbaden. It’s also the capital of the German State, Rheinland-Pfalz, where my family had lived before in the early and mid 1990’s.  Mainz itself is a very interesting city, with a completely different feel to it than Wiesbaden. While the architecture has a more ‘modern’ feel to it, it is still immersed in the old traditions of German building. The new and old styles really did blend well. I just wish I had more time to actually see the city. In the short time I was there, I was able to to tour the Mainz Cathedral, the main square, and even take a quick shot of the monument to St. Boniface. Did I forget to mention the ice cream?
